The eagle has left the building
Toward the end of day 2 we were called to action – there was a down eagle on the boardwalk. Thankfully one of our RVTs, Christina, is a lead developer of protocols for wildlife care in British Columbia. Along with Christina’s expertise in the field of wildlife, our local veterinarian Nicole has substantial experience working with local wildlife around Prince Rupert. When you’re a veterinarian in the North, anything can come to your clinic!
The two of them worked as a team to quietly take the beautiful bird in and administer fluids. It seemed that she may have been ok, but likely exhausted. She was provided a dark, quiet location for overnight recovery, and she was released at the start of Day 3 of the clinic. Her take off was hesitant, but later she was spotted making her way back to normal. Fingers crossed that such a special bird finds her strength once again.
